The kitchen can be described as the most important room in the house for several reasons, but the one I consider most important is the fact that it is the place where you and your family check in with each other every day. It is the hub of the home and as a result it gets cluttered and disorganized quickly. That is why it is very important to take advantage of storage solutions for the kitchen. Choosing the right breakfast nook set or installing a small organizer in a drawer can both have positive effects on your kitchen organization.

The first kitchen organizational tool we will discuss is the spice rack. If you do not have a kitchen spice rack then you will either gather your spices in a jumble on the counter top or in a cabinet. Your cooking efficiency can be greatly improved by organizing the spices in an easily accessible rack. There are two main varieties of spice racks to choose from. The first is counter top spice racks. They are usually some kind of tower or carousel that rotates so that you have easy access to any spice that you may need. The addition of this tool to your kitchen gives you complete countertop transformations. The second kind are spice racks for kitchen cabinets that hang on the back of the door. In addition to helping you with your cooking, the addition of a spice rack means that you will free up a lot of surface area on either the counter or in a cabinet. That added real estate will help you by giving you more storage space.

A second storage solution for the kitchen is a pantry cabinet. Pantry cabinets are fantastic organizational tools for your canned and dry goods. Sometimes it is difficult to use regular cabinets for this purpose because they are so deep and the shelves are so far apart. Items can get lost in the back and there is a lot of wasted empty space in the cabinet. Pantry cabinets have shelves that are closer together and shallow to solve both of these problems. Some homes have pantry cabinets built into the rest of their kitchen cabinetry, but that is not common. It is more common to find pantry cabinets just off the kitchen in breakfast nooks. Round kitchen tables leave plenty of dead space around the edges of the kitchen nook so that a pantry cabinet will fit comfortable.

In the course of normal day to day activity it can get easy to fall into the habit of just throwing items in the kitchen cabinet is a haphazard way with no goal of organization. Nevertheless, it is important to not fall into these patterns. One way to help you from making that mistake are creating a chaos that is difficult to navigate is to use drawer and cabinet organizers. Drawer organizers are dividers that subdivide the drawer into smaller sections that you can classify for certain types of items. Cabinet organizers come in many styles. There are can racks, basket systems that pull out like drawers, shelf dividers that create twice as much shelf surface area, etc.
